KathyKathrine Wright Chosen as New River Delta Unified School District Superintendent

Previously Served as District’s Director of Educational Services

Rio Vista, CA - Citing her vast experience, passion for education, and leadership skills, the River Delta Unified School District Board of Trustees announced that Katherine Wright will be the district's new school superintendent, starting July 1, 2019. Ms. Wright replaces retiring Superintendent Don Beno.

Since 2016, Ms. Wright has served as Director of Educational Services for River Delta Unified. In previous leadership roles at River Delta Unified, she has served as Director of Curriculum, Director of GATE Programs, Director of English Learners, Coordinator of Secondary Education and as Principal of lsleton Elementary School, in lsleton. She also previously served as a School Improvement Facilitator for WestEd where primarily she worked as a School Improvement Grant (SIG) implementation and leadership coach in Stockton Unified for principals, assistant principals, instructional coaches, program specialists, and teacher leaders.

"She has proven herself to be a thoughtful and caring administrator who always puts students first. Her vast knowledge of our students, families, and programs makes her undeniably qualified."

The River Delta Unified School District Board of Trustees began the search process in January for the District's next superintendent. The Sacramento County Office of Education (SCOE) assisted in the search. David W. Gordon, Sacramento County Superintendent of Schools, served as Board Advisor in this process.

The River Delta Unified School District is a K-12 district with an enrollment of 2,000 students. The district is located along the Sacramento River and includes portions of three  counties: Sacramento, Solano, and Yolo. The District office is in Rio Vista, which is 45 miles northeast of San Francisco and 35 miles southwest of Sacramento. River Delta Unified has 12 small schools: four K-6 elementary schools; two middle  schools; two high schools; and four alternative education schools serving the communities of Clarksburg, Hood, Courtland, Walnut Grove, Ryde, Locke, lsleton, Rio Vista, Birds Landing, and Collinsville.
